Movie Poster Artist Drew Struzan To Receive 2014 Saul Bass Award

The Hollywood Reporter’s Key Art Awards, managed by the CLIO team, has announced its 2014 Saul Bass Award recipient: Drew Struzan. The award will be presented to Struzan at its 43rd annual international awards gala, taking place on October 23, 2014 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

In his long career, Struzan has created many of the most iconic movie posters seen since the 1970′s. He has enjoyed creative relationships with many of the world’s greatest directors, including: George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Bob Zemeckis, Frank Darabont and Guillermo Del Toro. Drew’s key art for films such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to The Future, E. T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Hook, The Shawshank Redemption, Hellboy, Harry Potter, The Great Muppet Caper, Police Academy, Blade Runner, The Thing, First Blood, Big Trouble in Little China, in all over 200 movie titles, have become world-renowned.

The Key Art Awards’ Saul Bass Award honors talented graphic designers and filmmakers that have created their own iconic and influential style. The recipient of the Saul Bass Award is someone whose body of work stands out amongst the competition and inspires others in the industry. Saul Bass is considered by today’s creative community to be one of the most iconic and influential graphic designers and filmmakers of the 20th century. His work is easily recognized and has influenced multiple generations of designers, film students and directors alike. During his 40-year career, he worked with some of Hollywood’s greatest filmmakers including Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese.
